Indiana Honor Guard
The PFFUI Honor Guard Network was established to assist local affiliates by creating a registry of active Honor Guards and providing training opportunities for established and new members.
By cultivating interest among our members to be well-trained, adequately equipped, and accessible for details, the PFFUI Honor Guard Network can best serve our members and the communities where they serve and promote the traditions and history the fire service is steeped in when the appearance of an Honor Guard is appropriate.
PFFUI Honor Guard Network members work together to support fire services, emergency medical services, public safety officers, law enforcement and armed services members’ line-of-duty death honors. Honor Guard members may be activated to represent the PFFUI at formal programs, memorials, dedications, and presentations of colors.
Honoring the memory of our members is an essential custom. Annually, the PFFUI hosts the remembrance ceremony at the Indiana Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters Memorial on the first Thursday after Labor Day. On the third Saturday of each September, the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial in Colorado Springs, CO, an annual ceremony is held. Each of these ceremonies includes adding the names of our fallen to the memorial. The PFFUI Honor Guard Network serves a vital function at both events by presenting honors, representing affiliate locals, and other needed ceremonial functions.
