Supporting those who serve
The PFFUI Peer Support Network is dedicated to fostering a culture of trust and confidentiality by providing unwavering support to our statewide membership. Through outreach initiatives, we strive to create a safe space for open dialogue, offering education and resources to promote mental health awareness, resilience, and personal well-being for our fire fighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 dispatch family.
Frequently Asked Questions
Your mental well-being, safety, and confidentiality are our top priorities. We do not report to any administration. Find answers to common questions about our mission, services, and how we support fire fighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 dispatchers.
Why Peer Support?
Peer Support is assistance provided by a trained individual or group of trained fire fighters and emergency responders who answer the call to their brothers and sisters in need, regardless of the need. These values are upheld by an understanding that we have a calling to care for all fire fighters, emergency responders and civilian staff equally, and that we are all deserving of genuine support by our peers.
What is the Peer Support Network?
The Peer Support Network strives to provide PFFUI affiliate local leaders and members information on resources available to assist in a critical incident, peer support program start-up, and offer direct resources for members in need of culturally competent services for stress, addiction and dependency.
The Network offers coordination of training opportunities through the IAFF Peer Support Trainer Program and other behavioral health specialists.
A Network of experienced coordinators identifying, vetting and develop resources specific to our membership needs throughout the PFFUI. The Network also strives to communicate wellness events, information, training opportunities for PeerSupporters, union leadership and while maintaining inventory of available resources for our Peer Support Teams and members across the statewide union.
